Dementia-related hearing loss

A new study published in JAMA Network Open reveals that hearing loss in middle-aged and older adults is linked to cognitive impairment.

However, unlike earlier research, wearing hearing aids didn't show cognitive benefits, except in individuals with depression.

Lead author Dr. Baptiste Grenier from Université Paris Cité highlights that these findings suggest hearing loss could increase the risk of cognitive decline.

Researchers emphasize the need to monitor cognitive function in adults with hearing loss, though more research is required to understand the role of hearing aids in preventing cognitive impairment.
